What are the system requirements?
Our Totally Rad Photoshop Actions require Photoshop CS2 or later to run properly. Not 7.0. Not CS. Not Paintshop, or Elements. ONLY Photoshop CS2 or later. They work great with CS3, CS4, and CS5 and work equally well on the Mac and PC platforms. If your computer is old, some of the actions in TRA2 - The Revenge will run slowly. But they’re worth the wait!
Dirty Pictures requires Photoshop CS3 or later. Really, it does. And it works fine with CS5 as well
Our Lightroom presets require Adobe Lightroom v2 or later. They don’t work directly in Photoshop, nor do the Photoshop products work in Lightroom. Two completely separate and different programs.
Do I need to be a Photoshop whiz?
To get the most out of our Photoshop actions, you’ll need a working knowledge of layers and layer masks. To get a feeling for whether your skills will be enough to use all the actions, check out the video tutorial on Layers and Layer masks. If that stuff makes sense to you, you’re probably good to go!
Dirty Pictures is pretty easy to use, though a knowledge of layer masks comes in handy there, too.
The Lightroom Presets literally work with the click of a button.
Do you have a list of the actions?
We have a limited number of our Photoshop actions listed in the samples section of the site because some Photoshop actions don’t lend themselves to before / after type web previews. There are a lot of great resources to help you fix any problems you might have, and to get the most out of your Totally Rad Photoshop Actions and Lightroom Presets. The video tutorials and documentation are a great places to start for common questions, and often you can figure out what’s wrong before you could even type out an email. You can also head on over to our support section to ask us a question, and we’ll do our best to help figure out what’s happening.
Will they work on my images?
Our Photoshop actions will work on any photo that Photoshop can open. They are optimized for 8-bit images in RGB color mode. Certain functions won’t work on grayscale, CMYK, or 16-bit images. Most of them are also optimized for high-res images (over 3 megapixels, for instance). So your TIFF, PSD, JPEG, etc files will work fine. Scanned film works fine, too. And our Photoshop actions don’t care whether your images are from a Nikon, Canon, Kodak, Fuji, Lomo, Polaroid, or whatever.
Dirty Pictures will work on any size image, but requires RGB or Grayscale images (which over 99% of your digital photos are likely to be)
Our Lightroom Presets will work on any camera raw image that Lightroom can open. We don’t recommend using them on jpegs, though - they really work much, much better with raw images.
How easy are they to use?
MOST of our Photoshop actions will do their thing with just a single click. In other words, you run the action, and you’re done. Some of them require some manipulation of layer masks to do anything at all. It’s a simple process, and is detailed in the included manual, as well as the tutorials.
Dirty Pictures has a visual window-based interface, and is also super-simple to use.
The Lightroom presets also work with literally a single-click.
Can I use 'em on multiple computers?
Each purchase entitles you to use the actions on up to 4 computers within one business or studio. So sharing with your employees is cool. Sharing with your friends isn’t.
What if I don't like them?
In the unlikely event that you buy our something from us that you don’t like, we’ll give you your money back within 30 days. Pretty simple, eh?
Do the actions flatten the image?
MOST of the actions will create a new layer or set of layers with the result of the operation. This is to allow maximum flexibility in how you mix and match different actions to achieve the desired effect. A couple of the actions will flatten the document, or operate on the background layer, but wherever possible, the actions create a new layer or layer set. We want to give you as much control as possible.
Dirty Pictures will output the textures it creates to a new layer as well. We’re all about flexibility.
Can I get em on CD?
Our Photoshop actions and filters are currently only available via internet download. The download for our Photoshop actions is small, and should download quickly (even if you’re on dial-up). Dirty Pictures is a bit bigger, but still not bad (about 125MB). You can feel free to make as many copies as you like on whatever media you like for backup purposes, and in fact, we highly recommend you do so.
