It's time to master layer masks in Photoshop! Learn what layer masks are, how to manipulate them, and how they fit into Photoshop actions. As with all of these videos, we pinky-swear you'll learn something even if you think you know everything there is to know about Photoshop layer masks.
For you losers, (Kidding! Jeez!), a new Photoshop video tutorial from the mighty Boutwell. This bad boy tells you how to create a favorite action set, which will keep you from cursing your action palette from having to scroll through 6,874 actions for the four you use most. (Which are Totally Rad, of course.)
Please let us know what else you need help with in the comments -- ideas for Photoshop video tutorials are always welcome!
Wow, you read my mind! I was just trying to figure out if I could do something like this, like drag all the ones I use most to the top. This is awesome. More video tutorials, please!
(11.03.09 @ 06:08 PM)Don't forget to save your action set you just made! Highlight your new set and hit the Action Palette upper right button and click on Save. I use the name of my Custom Set and the date.

Want to get your images ready for the web in two shakes of a lamb's tail? Quick and easy tricks will get your workflow on the fast track. This video will have your photos looking crisp and pretty with virtually no hassle.
Thanks for the tips! I've been looking for a better/faster/crisper way to save for the web. However, I was wondering if this step makes it so the sharpening action is applied after the photo is resized? Also, I thought I saw a post on here about the difference between sharpening before and after resizing photos. Where did that post go? Now that I've got my hands on the actions, I'm eager to test them out!
(12.02.09 @ 11:17 PM)just emailed you my submission! I hope I win some dirty pictures! ;)
(09.08.09 @ 07:26 PM)I did a post on my blog...I would love to win the dirty pic contest!
(09.08.09 @ 04:44 PM)Hi Doug,
A coupla questions for you about work-flow...
I see you using Bridge in this tut...and I also spy some CaptureOne folders lurking too.
So my questions are; RAW converters - Ever use Lightroom or Aperture or are you Bridge/ACR and even Capture One sometimes?
And how do you incorprate them into your workflow that obviously is PS influenced?
Do you just aim for a good exposure/density in the RAW converter or keep the flattest settings you can, so you have the most headroom once you get all TRA'd up in PS?
Thought you had picked a winner for the Dirty Pic contest already.......?
(09.05.09 @ 05:21 AM)Thanks so much for that tutorial! - can't wait to play with it.
(01.13.10 @ 05:17 PM)Thanks for this. I really wanted to buy a tilt shift lens and now I do not have to!

Thanks for making these actions. They really help me reduce the amount of time it would take to learn all the stuff embedded within each of them. I use your actions almost every day, and can't imagine working without them. Keep up the good work, and thanks for making these kinds of donations.....

(12.07.09 @ 09:12 PM)Hey Guys, just wanted to let you know that your actions ROCK! I don't use them exclusively but they are one of the main set of actions that I use in editing photos. I especially love oh-snap to give that final punch in the teeth that a lot of photos need. Keep up the good work, can't wait for action set #3
